Pescando en una plaza

Os dejamos otro de nuestros proyectos pendiente de ejecución.

Lo pensamos para la Noche en Blanco de Málaga, que trataba sobre el agua, pero al final nos decantamos por El río que nos lleva... calle abajo... y hace dos mes lo presentamos al Victoria & Albert Museum de Londres.


Finalmente eligieron a nuestros Seres empaquetados en luz, pero este proyecto nos gusta mucho y lo queremos dejar a la vista, esperando poder materializardo en algún momento.

El proyecto Pescando en luz quiere convertir un espacio al aire libre en un lugar mágico y misterioso, en el que los visitantes puedan pescar de noche, rodeados de reflejos de luz y brillantes colores de plástico.

Para ello, se colgarán unos 200 objetos de plástico de uso doméstico de muy variadas formas y con llamativos colores, que llenaremos de agua e iluminaremos desde abajo y desde el interior para que la luz envuelva y traspase los recipientes, convirtiendo el espacio en un mundo de destellos de colores creados con recipientes básicos y agua.


Dentro de los recipientes, colocaremos pequeños juguetes de cuerda que nadarán sobre el agua, agitándola de manera que las ondas de agua iluminada, proyecten en el recinto, haces de luz que se muevan suavemente, al compás del movimiento de los juguetes.

Al lado de cada uno de los recipientes habrá situadas cañas de pescar, colocadas en posición vertical y en el extremo de los hilos colgarán peces como si hubieran sido pescados del interior de los objetos de luz.

Para interactuar con los transeuntes, se repartir pequeñas cañas de juguete para que la gente puedan pescar los juguetes que estarán flotando en el agua.

Varios voluntarios repondrán los juguetes pescados y darán cuerda a los parados, de manera que el agua siempre estará en movimiento y los destellos y sombras compondrán un espectáculo, difícil de igualar con los más sofisticados medios de proyección espectacular.

We give you another one of our projects awaiting execution.

We thought of it for the White Night in Málaga, which had to do with water, but in the end we went with The River that leads us … down the street … and two months ago we presented it to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.


In the end they chose our Beings Wrapped in Light, but we like this project a lot and we want to leave it in plain sight with the hope of carrying it out at some time.

The project Fishing in light is about converting an open air space into a place of magic and mystery, in which the visitors can fish at night, surrounded by reflected light and bright colors.

For this purpose we will place some 200 plastic, domestic use containers, of varying shapes and bright colors, which we will fill with water and light from below as well as inside so that the light wraps around and passes through the containers, transforming the space into a flashing world of colors created using the most basic containers and water.

Inside the containers, we will place small toys on strings which will float on the water, moving it in such a way that the illuminated waves in the water will be projected throughout the compound, making the light move softly, in time with the movement of the toys.

At the side of each container there will be fishing rods, placed in a vertical position, with a fish hung at the end of the line, as if they were caught within the lighted containers.

To interact with the public, small toy fishing rods will be distributed so that the people can fish for the toys which will be floating on the water.

Various volunteers will replace the toys which have been caught and pull the strings of the stopped toys, so that the water will always be in movement and the flashes and shadows will create a show difficult to equal with the most sophisticated means of projection.

Queremos dar a conocer una serie de proyectos que nos fueron solicitados por festivales o instituciones y que por diferentes razones, no fueron materializados en su momento.

Estas piezas, que nos gustaría llevar a cabo en un futuro próximo, necesitan mayor infraestructura y presupuesto del que nosotros manejamos en nuestras intervenciones de guerrilla, por lo que hemos decidido publicarlos, por si alguien nos puede ayudar en su producción.

Vaciando el Museo / Emptying the museum

1ª Propuesta de intervención del Jardín Central del Victoria & Albert Museum de Londres dentro del programa Garden Comission

Con nuestro proyecto Vaciando el museo queremos, simbólicamente, hacer hueco en las salas del museo, a nuevas iniciativas artísticas, que ahora no tienen cabida en él o que si lo tienen es de una manera temporal y con comisariados especiales.

Para eso planteamos una instalación en la que desde 12 puntos de la fachada se habilitarán sistemas de vaciado de escombros de los que se utilizan normalmente en la rehabilitación de edificios.

Estos sistemas consisten en tubos de plástico que encajan unos en otros para formar grandes tuberías que parten de ventanas y discurren por las fachadas de manera que todo lo que cae desde las alturas es conducido a contenedores de obra situados en la calle.

Nosotros no vamos a limitarnos a coger mecanismo estandar y ponerles luz, por lo que hemos pensado crear nuestros propios módulos de escombros, partiendo de la forma y el sistema de anclajes de los ya existentes en el mercado pero fabricados con pantallas de lámparas que fabricaremos ex profeso para este fin y que iremos encajando unas con otras hasta conformar grandes tiras que partan de las ventanas superiores y desde la balconada principal hasta el patio central, donde estarán situados contendores de obra, de los que se utilizan en la construcción.

Las pantallas de lámparas serán construidas con medidas similares a las de los módulos de obras y forradas con telas de distintos estampados estilo William Morris y Liberty para que se asocien visualmente al estilo decorativo que se puede encontrar en el propio museo. Además, irán rematadas con pasamanerías y flecos, para que no haya ninguna duda de que son verdaderas lámparas.


Dentro de los tubos de pantallas, habrá potentes luminarias, para que aparezcan totalmente iluminadas por la noche…

Los contendores de obra en los que desembocan los mecanismos de desescombro, serán los más comunes de obras, y llevarán luz en su interior e irán tapados con lonas semitransparentes de color azul de manera que se intuya que su interior esta lleno de escombros.

Saliendo por los lateral, pequeñas piezas artísticas que aparentemente hubieran sido desalojados del museo para hacer sitio y que hubieran desbordado el contenedor.

1rs proposal for the installation in the Victoria & Albert Museum's Central Garden in London within the Garden Commission

With our project Emptying the museum aims at making room symbolically in museum for new artistic initiatives which now do not have the space or even if they do are temporary and demand especial curators.

For this reason we would like to propose an installation which consists of 12 points on the façade where systems of rubble disposal-used for building restoration-.

These systems are plastic pipes which are joined together one by one and become a single long pipe, starting from the windows and going down façades so that everything thrown into them falls all the way to skips in the streets.

We do not want to get any standard device and add light to them. And this is why we have come up with the idea of making our own rubble containers or skips. Taking as an example the shape and anchorage system already on the market, we will make the lamp shades ex profeso for this event and we will join them until a single tube on each space comes out of windows from upper floors and from the main balcony to the central patio, where the containers will be placed.

The lamp shades will be made the same size as the works modules and wrapped with patterned fabrics, William Morris and Liberty styled, so that they are visually associated with decoration styles found in the museum. They will be also decorated with flings and braids to make it clear that they are real lamps.

Within the shades, there will be powerful lights; these will be lit at night… Skips, where all the rubble disposal system will converge, will be the most common from ordinary building works and there will be blue light inside and will be covered with almost translucid canvas- which will barely show the rubble inside.

Sticking out from the sides of the skips, will be small plaster objects, furniture, paintings…as if there were too many things thrown away and they would not fit all inside them.

Al revés / Upside Down

2ª Propuesta de intervención del Jardín Central del Victoria & Albert Museum de Londres dentro del programa Garden Comission.

Todo el día estamos oyendo que el mundo está volviéndose del revés, que la crisis ha hecho que las cosas que creímos incuestionables hayan acabado dando un giro de 180º para adaptarse a la condiciones adversas que nos toca vivir.


Personalmente somos de la opinión de que revisar valores tradicionales y verdades inamovibles, para acabar sustituyéndolos por otros más creativos, humanos y sostenibles, aunque menos lucrativos, lejos de ser un paso hacia atrás es un avance grande para una supervivencia digna.

Pensando en cómo las cosas han cambiado para situarse donde nunca pensamos que podían acabar, hemos querido demostrar de una manera metafórica, que los cambios, si se hacen con sentido, no tienen por que ser malos y que además pasado un tiempo, los acabaremos aceptando como normales.


Esperemos pues, que a la vista de nuestra pieza, alguien pueda pensar, cómo le gustaría que los peces volasen y las aves nadasen, ¿por qué no?...

Esta instalación a pesar de ser llevada a cabo por un colectivo de iluminación, no pierde ni un ápice de su significado al ser vista de día y a pleno sol.

2nd Proposal for the installation in the Victoria & Albert Museum's Central Garden in London within the Garden Commission Scheme. October 2010.

Every day we hear the World is upside down, that the crisis has changed things to a degree we considered previously impossible and we have to adapt to current circumstances.

We think revising traditional values and truths and having more creative, humane and Earth friendly attitude, though less profitable, is far from being a step backwards for the survival of society.

Things have changed in unexpected ways, we intend our installation to show metaphorically that changes with a course do not have to be bad. After a while, everyone will end up accepting them as a matter-of-course.

So we hope this piece will enable people to think how they would like fish to fly and birds to swim, why not?

Although the installation will be lit, it will still be able to be appreciated during the day-time.

Alas de celulosa / Cellulose wings

Proyecto para Luminale 2010

Es enojoso observar cómo la publicidad cambia el aspecto de los objetos que pone a la venta, para adaptarlas a sus intereses y para que nosotros, al verlos desde su perspectiva, sintamos inmediatas ganas de consumir lo que nos ofrecen.

Este es el caso de por ejemplo las compresas, que siempre se anuncian como productos etéreo, ligeros, blancos inmaculados, sin olor, estéticamente bellos... evitando que aparezca el color rojo que es sustituido por sutiles toques azules, que son dejados caer sobre la superficie blanca, como si de lluvia se tratase.


El eslogan de una antigua campaña publicitaria de compresas, “Ausonia te da alas” en el que las chicas aparecían flotando felices, los días en los que usaban este producto, nos inspiró para nuestra propuesta Alas de celulosa en las que por una vez nos hemos creído la publicidad y hemos convertido un objeto de tan engorroso uso, en otro mucho más onírico, puro y delicado.

Proyect for Luminale 2010.

It is bothersome to see how advertising campaigns change the appearance of things so as to adapt them to their own interests, and by seeing from this point of view we feel inclined to buying the products or services advertised.

It is the case of sanitary towels, for instance, which are advertised as ethereal, light, inmaculate, odorless and beautiful. But the red colour is never present and it is replaced by blue drops that fall as if it were rain on them.

The slogan for the advertising campaign of sanitary towels called “Ausonia makes you feel free” (Ausonia te da alas) shows young women floating merrily in the air and the days on which they must use this item. It became an inspiration for our proposal Cellulose wings and for just this time we have believed the message and we have turned this object –so annoying to use- into a much more oneiric, pure and delicate.

Vaciando de escombros la ciudad / Emptying the city of rubble

Instalacion para Nuit Blanche de Amsterdam 2010

Una primera versión de la instalación Vaciando el Museo, presentada al Victoria & Albert Museum de Londres en verano del 2010.

Nuestra instalación trata de imitar, mediante largos tubos formados por la unión de muchas pantallas de lámparas, con estética vintage y vivos colores, el sistema que se utiliza para vaciar de pequeños escombros los edificios en rehabilitación.



Cada uno de nuestros tubos de desescombro, terminará en un contenedor, dentro habrá instalados tubos fluorescentes que conseguirán que todo el contenedor quede iluminado.

La idea surgió al observar en los contenedores de edificios en rehabilitación, la cantidad de objetos interesantes estéticamente y cargados de historia sobre sus antiguos dueños, que se desechan por viejos e inapropiados, para dar paso a la estética renovada, minimalista y globalizada tan común en el diseño actual.

Por eso la idea de utilizar elementos de los que comúnmente se encuentran en estos contenedores para nuestra instalación y pensamos en pantallas antiguas, con la idea de sacar a la luz lo que está pasando en los edificio y también ayudar metafóricamente a que ese transito del pasado al presente no sea tan doloroso…



Queremos embellecer la ciudad esta noche y hacerlo con luz, la materia que mejor dominamos, pero no queremos dejar de hablar de la realidad que nos rodea, donde la especulación inmobiliaria permite que edificios se vengan abajo por intereses creados o que se acometan remodelaciones espectaculares en las que no queda el más mínimo rastro de la esencia del primitivo edificio y la gente que lo habitó.

Installation for Nuit Blanche de Amsterdam 2010.

An early version of the installation Emptying the Museum, submitted to the Victoria & Albert Museum of London in summer of 2010.

Our installation tries to imitate, through the use of large tubes formed by the union of many lampshades, of aesthetic vintage and bright colors, the system that is used to remove small rubble from buildings under renovation.

Each one of our rubble tubes, will finish in a container, inside there will be flourescent tubes installed which will achieve the effect of lighting the entire container.

The idea came about through observing in the containers at buildings under renovation, the quantity of aesthetically interesting objects, loaded with history about their former owners, which are discarded for being old or inappropriate, minimalist and globalized being so common in current design.

For this reason the idea of utilizing elements which are commonly found in these containers for our installation and we think old lampshades, with the idea of bringing to light what is happening in the buildings and also, metaphorically helping make this transition from past to present less painful…

We want to beautify the city tonight and do it with light, the medium which we master the best, but we don’t want to stop talking about the reality which surrounds us, where real estate speculation allows buildings to be torn down by vested interests or spectacular renovations to be undertaken after which there remains no trace of the original building or the people who lived in it.

Sombras inventadas / Invented shadows

Proyecto para Fete des lumieres Lyon 2009 también presentado a Nuit Blanche Paris 2010.

Una de las cosas que más nos gusta de la noche son las sombras que los objetos y las personas proyectan sobre las calles.


Por desgracia, en muchas ciudades, Madrid entre ellas, la potencia lumínica hace casi imposible disfrutar de ellas, ya que han desaparecido sepultadas bajo la potente luz de las farolas.

Así esta propuesta de intervención quiere recuperar sombras en la ciudad para convertir por unos días la calle en un lugar misterioso y onírico, donde nada es lo que parece.


Para conseguirlo contamos con un artista, cuyo magnífico trabajo nos ha inspirado este proyecto, que será el encargado de crear las sombras que habitarán la calle durante una semana.

En el callejón elegido, que estará completamente a oscura, colocaremos bombillas sujetas a la pared, a 5 metros del suelo. Estas bombillas incandescentes, de gran potencia, proyectarán sus haces de luz a las paredes y al suelo del callejón elegido. Bajo las bombillas irán unas siluetas translucidas, que interceptarán el paso de la luz, creando así las sombras inventadas.


Gracias a este mecanismo, de apariencia simple, conseguiremos que la calle adquiera una vida insospechada llena de personajes que habitan las paredes y el suelo de la ciudad.

Y todo esto sin llevar a cabo grandes instalaciones y sin deteriorar el mobiliario urbano ni la infraestructura de la calle.

Project for Fete des lumieres Lyon 2009 also presented for Nuit Blanche Paris 2010.

One of the things we like most about the night are the shadows that objects and people cast into the streets.

Unfortunately, in many cities, Madrid among them, the lighting makes it almost impossible to enjoy them, as they have disappeared under the powerful illumination of the streetlamps.

The proposal of this intervention is to bring the shadows back to the city in order to convert the street into a mysterious and dreamlike place for a few days, where nothing is what it seems.

To achieve this, we have an artist, whose magnificent work has inspired this project, who will be in charge of creating the shadows which will inhabit the streets for a week.

In the chosen alley, which will be completely dark, we will attach bulbs to the walls, 5 meters above the ground. These incandescent bulbs, of high wattage, will project their light at the walls and the ground of the chosen alley. Underneath the bulbs, there will be translucent silhouettes which will intercept the passage of the light, thus creating the invented shadows.

Thanks to this mechanism, of simple design, we will ensure that the street takes on an unexpected life full of characters which inhabit the walls and ground of the city.

And all this without carrying out a large installation, without damaging either structures or infrastructure in the street.

Suavizando el gris urbano / Softening the urban gray

Proyecto para el L' Escorxador Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Elche.

Nuestro deseo es llevar a cabo una instalación lumínica efímera, en el entorno urbano de la ciudad de Elche para que los vecinos interactúen con ella.

Con nuestra instalación Suavizando el gris urbano queremos dar confort a un espacio público, sustituyendo el color gris, tan común, por un blanco y mullido espacio en el que los vecinos puedan jugar y relajarse, como si estuvieran tumbados en una inmensa cama luminosa.

Para ello forraremos completamente una plaza céntrica de Elche con edredones, en los que habremos insertado gran cantidad de puntos de luz, para que quede iluminado por la noche.

Los elementos de mobiliario público que existen en la plaza también serán cubiertos, papeleras, troncos de árbol, semáforos, bancos, fuentes… no dejando que nada duro e incomodo quede a la vista.

Además de los edredones, que irán fijados al suelo, lo llenaremos todo de cojines luminosos, para que los más pequeños jueguen y organicen batallas y los mayores se pongan cómodos y disfruten del espacio.

Project for the L' Escorxador Centro de Cultura Contemporánea in Elche.

Our desire is to carry out a short-lived luminous installation, in the urban environment of the city of Elche which the inhabitants can interact with.

With our installation Softening the urban gray we want to bring comfort to a public space, substituting the ever so common gray color, with a white, fluffy space where the inhabitants can play and relax, as if they were lying on a huge illuminated bed.

In order to do this, we will completely cover the central plaza of Elche with quilts, in which we will have inserted a large number of light points, so that it stays illuminated for the night.

The public fixtures which exist in the plaza will also be covered, garbage cans, tree trunks, traffic lights, benches, fountains… so that nothing hard or uncomfortable remains in view.

Besides the quilts, which will be fixed to the ground, it will be filled with illuminated cushions, so that the youngest may play and organize battles and the elderly can make themselves comfortable and enjoy the space.

Luces y ropa tendida en el Guggenheim Museum de New York / Light and hanging clothes in the Guggenheim Museum of New York

Hemos dejado volar nuestra imaginación por petición del Guggenheim Museum de New York y hemos planteado dos propuestas, que no se van a llevar a cabo, pero que estarán expuestas en el atrio del museo, el próximo febrero 12 del 2010, dentro de la exposición "Contemplating the Void: Interventions in the Guggenheim Museum Rotunda" que conmemora el 50 aniversario de la construcción del edificio .


Museo habitado 24 horas

Este proyecto de iluminación, quiere dar una visión de los usos del museo, que va más allá de lo que se podrían entender como las propias de un recinto que alberga arte, rechazando la idea de una vida limitada a los horarios de apertura establecidos.

¿Qué pasa cuando las puertas se cierran, los visitantes se van y se hace de noche?.

Estamos convencidos de que muchos seres habitan estos espacios a puerta cerrada, personal de seguridad, de limpieza, de mantenimiento, restauradores, curators, montadores… pasan mucho tiempo tratando de que todo este en perfecto estado al día siguiente.

Pensando en estas personas y en el uso tan diferente que hacen de este espacio consagrado al arte, hemos atrevido a imaginarnos que de noche, el Guggenheim se convierte en un edificio llenos de vida, y que el Atrio pasa a ser un patio comunitario donde todos los vecinos tienden su ropa, a la vista de los demás.

Para eso, hemos dejado flotando en el vacío, nuestra ropa blanca e iluminada, para que con esta simple acción, el Atrio se convierta un auténtico patio napolitano, lleno de vida, de luz y de relaciones sociales.

La idea: humanizar con ropa, para que parezca habitado.

We allowing free rein to the imagination on request by the Guggenheim Museum in New York and have suggested two projects, which will not be carried out, but will be exhibited in the museum's rotunda, next February 12, 2010, as part of the exhibition "Contemplating the Void: Interventions in the Guggenheim Museum Rotunda" that conmemorates the 50th anniversary of the building of the Museum.

This lighting project has tried to provide with a new look at the different ways the museum is used, not only the usual for this kind of venue where art works are exhibited but also before and after opening and closing times.

Museum inhabited 24 horas

What happens when entrance doors are closed and visitors leave and it becomes dark?

We believe that lots of beings live within the closed doors: security personnel, cleaning and maintenance staff, art restorers, curators, installers and other people spend a long time doing their best so that everything is in perfect condition the next day.

With this people in mind and the different uses this site - which is dedicated to art- has. We have dared to imagine the Guggenheim at night, full of life, and thow he Rotunda turns into an indoor patio where neighbours hang their clothes in full view of everyone.

With this intent we have left floating in the empty space our white and illuminated clothes so that this simple action changes the Rotunda into a real patio in Naples-style, full of life, light and social interactions.

The idea:: humanizing the clothes to make it look inhabithed.

Luz y malas hierbas en Museo de Arte Contemporaneo/ Light and weeds in Comtemporary Art Museum

Nos gustaría que los museos fueran edificios vivos y por eso queríamos aportar un poco de materia verde y viva a una construcción tan blanca y perfecta como el edificio del Guggenheim Museum.

Nuestras pequeñas plantas, creciendo por todo el museo, en pequeñas grietas de la pared y alimentadas mediante goteo, por bolsas de suero clínico que contienen agua y luz verde. Un sistema de tubos que se descuelgan por el hueco del Atrio haría que el alimento llegara en la dosis justa a cada pequeña planta.


No solo se les aportaría alimento, sino que cada mala hierba sería tratada con luz, materia imprescindible para su crecimiento. De esta manera, las plantas se reproducirían y según pasara el tiempo, estas contarían con más presencia en el edificio.

Así, el museo, además de ser un espacio para el arte, se convertiría en un ecosistema de plantas conviviendo en armonía con las obras del museo.

La idea: cultivar plantas en el edificio para darle vida.

We would like museums to be buildings which seem alive and that is why we want to add some green matter to a perfect white building like the Guggenheim Museum.

Our small plants growing all across the museum, in small crevices on the walls and fed through a drop by drop system with serum that have water and green light in them. A network of tubes hang from the Rotunda into the air and enable the right dose to reach each small plant.

Not only it would provide food but as well each weed would receive light enough for its growth. Plants would reproduce and as time went by would be more present in the building.

This way the museum, apart from being a space for art, would turn into an ecosystem with plants living harmonously with the works in the museum.

The idea: growing plants in the building to bring it to life.

Cuando la literatura tome las calles... / When literature will conquer the streets...

Aprovechando nuestra visita de febrero a New York, para asistir a la exposición "Contemplating the Void" del Guggenheim Museum, en la que nos exhiben una propuesta ideada para el atrio del museo, queremos salir a la calle con nuestras luces, que es lo que realmente nos interesa y más nos gusta hacer.

Nuestra intención es llevar a cabo una instalación efímera, Literatura versus tráfico, con luz y libros en una de las avenidas más transitadas de Manhattan, cortando uno de sus carriles al tráfico para uso de los peatones.

Para ello, pretendemos repartir 2000 libros iluminados por el pavimento, colocados aleatoriamente de manera que la gente pueda pasear entre ellos fácilmente y pararse a ojearlos e incluso leerlos.

Queremos que la literatura se apodere de las calles y se convierta en conquistadora del espacio público, ofreciendo gratuitamente a los que pasean, un espacio libre de tráfico, que por unas pocas horas nocturnas, sucumbirá al modesto poder de la palabra escrita.

Así, un espacio urbano reservado convencionalmente a la velocidad, la contaminación y el ruido, por unas horas, se convertirá en un lugar para la tranquilidad, el relax y la convivencia. Iluminado por una suave luz difusa que nos hará sentir cómodos, en un ambiente acogedor, a pesar del caos que nos rodea.

Los libros, quedarán durante toda la intervención a disposición del que se los quiera llevar, con lo que la instalación se autoreciclará y tendrá la duración que los usuarios quieran que tarde en desaparecer.

Al final, los coches volverán a ocupar su sitio pero para muchos, el recuerdo de que una vez los libros ocuparon este mismo espacio, hará que su relación con este entorno cambie y, seguro que muchas veces, contarán a los que les acompañen, que ellos lo vieron con sus propios ojos…

Las fotos e ilustraciones, son una pequeña puesta en escena de la idea que a gran escala nos gustaría dejar en New York, a ver si alguien nos echa una mano, del tipo que sea, para poder materializarla, se admiten sugerencias.

Taking advantage of our visit to New York in February, to attend the exhibition "Contemplating the Void", at the Guggenheim Museum, in which we exhibited a proposal which we designed for the atrium of the museum, we want to move our lights into the street, which is what really interests us and what we most like to do.

Our intention is to carry out an ephemeral installation, "Literature versus traffic", with light and books on one of the busiest avenues in Manhattan, closing one of its lanes for the use of pedestrians.

To that end, we plan to distribute 2000 illuminated books along the pavement, randomly placed in such a way that people can walk among them easily and stop to look at them or even read them.

We want literature to seize the streets and become the conqueror of public spaces, freely offering to those who walk by a space free of traffic which for a few hours of the night will succumb to the modest power of the written word.

Thus, an urban space conventionally reserved for speed, pollution and noise, for a few hours will become a place of peacefulness, relaxation and coexistence. Illuminated by a soft, diffuse light which makes us feel comfortable, in a pleasant environment, in spite of the chaos which surrounds us.

The books, of diverse topics will remain, during the entire intervention, at the disposal of anyone who wants to take them, signifying that the installation will recycle itself and be of the duration which the users want it to linger before disappearing.

In the end, the cars will return to occupy their place, but for many, the memory that once books occupied this same space, will change their relationship with the environment and surely they will tell those that accompany them many times that they saw them with their own eyes…

Colada más blanca y brillante...

Muchas ganas teníamos de llenar las calles de Madrid de ropa tendida.

Ya presentamos este proyecto para el Madrid Abierto 2010, y en él fantaseamos con la posibilidad de tender toda nuestra colada luminosa en el paseo de la Castellana. Pero claro, no pudo ser.

Tanto nos gusta la idea, que hemos planteamos tender esta misma ropa iluminada en el Guggemheim de New York, esta vez para un proyecto en papel, que se exhibirá el próximo febrero en la exposición Contemplating de Void.

Al final no hemos podido resistirnos y con mínimos recursos, hemos probado a pequeña escala, eligiendo la Calle del Pez para poner nuestro modesto tendal.

La noche fue de lo más animada, interacción total con los vecinos y visitantes de los bares, que utilizaron nuestra intalación para hacerse sus propias fotos y a cambio nos cedieron parte de la ropa blanca que llevaban, con lo que pudimos rellenar unos 25 metros de calle.

Prueba de ropa tendida en la ciudad habitada así hemos llamado a esta primer boceto de instalación con ropa luminosa, que llevamos a cabo la noche del 19 de mayo en el centro de Madrid. Ojalá podamos extenderla a otras zonas deshumanizadas de la ciudad, en un futuro próximo.

We would really have liked to cover Madrid streets with hung clothes.

We have already presented this project for Open Madrid 2010 and in this we imagined the possibility to hang all our lighting clothes on Paseo de la Castellana, but It wasn´t possible.

We liked this idea so much that we are planning on hanging the same lighting clothes in the New York Guggenheim museum. This time for a paper project that will be exhibited next February 2010 in the exhibition Contemplating de Void.

Finnaly we couldn´t resist the temptation and with not many resources we carried it out at small scale. We choose Pez Street where we installed a modest clothes lines.

The night was so fun, we met a lot of neighbours and visitors who came from the pubs and they used our installation, making their own photos and also giving us white clothes that they were wearing at that moment and we were able to install a 25-metres long line in the street.

Test of hanging clothes in the inhabited city is what we called this first outline lighting installation we carried out on 19 May in the centre of Madrid. We hope we can install it in other deshumanize areas of the city, in the near future.
